The oldest swimming club in Spain hosts the women and men's water polo competition. Beside the beach, one of the most modern swimming pools that exist has been built, and it has been especially designed so that each match is a spectacle. |
|
This is the first swimming pool in Catalonia to have moveable bridges to divide the total surface of 50 x 25 metres in three areas of water. The bottom of the pool is also moveable, which makes it possible to vary the depth of one of the areas.
Up until now, there has been only one other similar swimming pool, in Palma de Mallorca. The project cost 14 million euros.

Since the objective of adapting the facility to the characteristics of the sport in the best possible way, the new Club Natació Barcelona pool, which is 50 metres long, will be reduced to 33 metres by placing two inflatable boundary markers behind the goals. In this way, only the pool area where the game is played is visible. |

Another important element will be the temporary grandstand for spectators on the beach sand, which can seat 2,500 personas. Some areas in the venues (railings, accesses, and so forth) will be decorated with special pennants and banners.
Red, which symbolises the dynamism and aggressiveness of water polo, will be the colour by which this facility is defined.
