The National Post Office and Telecommunications Company has issued a set of five commemorative stamps to mark the X FINA World Swimming Championships. They have also commissioned various dedicatory postmarks and roller stamps to mark the occasion.

The series is presented in mini-sheets and is made up of five stamps reproducing each sporting discipline represented in the Championships, as well as one picture, with no postal value, showing the competition's logo. In total, 600,000 mini-sheets have been printed using photogravure printing on coated, gummed, phosphorescent paper.

Common face values have been chosen so as to encourage the use of the stamps, especially for international postage:

      - 0,26 € Letter within Spain (Swimming)
      - 0,51 € International letter- Europe (Diving)
      - 0,76 € International letter- Rest of the world (Synchronised swimming)
      - 1,85 € Special delivery within Spain (Open Water)
      - 2,15 € Registered letter (Water polo)

As well as the mini-sheet print run, the 0.26€ and 0.51€ stamps are available in sheets of 50. 1,200,000 copies of each issue have been made.

In total, more than 5 million stamps will be in circulation around the world either franked on mail, or forming part of stamp collectors' collections. This will assist in the international promotion of the World Championships as well as the city of Barcelona.

First day cover To coincide with the launch of the stamps for the X FINA World Swimming Championships, the Post Office have issued a first day cover. This is of special interest to stamp collectors and fans as it was only available on 23rd May- the issue date of the stamps- in Barcelona's Main Post Office in Plaza de Antonio López.

Advertising roller stamps The Post Office has granted the organising committee an advertising roller stamp of the Championships. It will be in use for two months from the 27th May to the 27th July. During this time, more than 300,000 letters collected in the post boxes of Barcelona will be marked with the roller before they are sent off around the world.

Temporary sub post office The organisers of the Championships and the Post Office have come to an agreement so that a temporary sub post office will be set up during the competition. The athletes, fans and stamp collectors will be able to obtain the commemorative postmark for the Barcelona03 World Championships from the 14th to the 27th July.
